The colors of Easter

Happy Easter everyone! I hope you all have had a wonderful day celebrating the wonderful gift that was given to us by our Savior, Jesus Christ. I am not sure when the tradition of an Easter walk came about, but we have been doing it for some years now and depending on the weather it may be in snow or it may be on dry ground. This year Mr. Jones and I were the only ones here to take this walk. (We kind of celebrated last week, remember.)
To start out our walk we saw these deer, they were actually right in front of me, but by the time I got out the camera they were already up the hill. I hope they aren't too far away, I always get after Ryan for taking pictures of a hillside with a little white spot on it and he tells me, "See that's the deer." We saw more up the canyon but I thought I had enough pictures of deer.

Here is the "dear" that most interests me!

We actually didn't see any snow until we were almost to the spring. Micah thought it was great, (she needed a drink.)

The pond is full.

Ryan came up on Saturday afternoon to check on the pond and found that the lower one had broken through. I wondered why it had taken him so long up the mountain,he didn't get back until way after dark. He stayed up shoveling dirt and rocks so it wouldn't wash out.

Here is the lower one that he had been working on.

Now for some colors of Easter for the year 2011.  Orange is the first color. We usually have a little more green but this year spring has hardly shown itself, even though Easter is on the latest weekend it could possibly be.

Here is the most green that I found. I love moss.

Here is Pink! The only flowers are these microscopic ones that come out very early. They always amaze me at how tiny and perfect they are.

And of course there was some yellow.

Yellow in two kinds of varieties. This is the buttercup variety.

When we were up to the lower pond Micah found this great bone, so I guess her favorite color was, "old bone grey."

Oh, no! Someone is coming to steal my old grey bone.!

Maggie finally caught up to us and decided her favorite Easter color was, "old bone grey," as well.

We even found some Easter white. Yes, this is the poor horse who broke his leg a few years ago and we didn't find him until spring.

There is  a little green trying to break through the ground.

I always like the view when we get to the top, and yes, there is some more Easter white in the back ground.

It was a fun Easter walk and we saw many Easter colors and many signs that spring is really coming. I love the rebirth of so many things this time of year.
Happy Easter!

Oh, Chickie!

This last week I was reading some of my favorite blogs and came across this cute little chick! and I immediately knew I had to make one of these!! This was knit by Cara and she shared the pattern at her Freckles Family blog. You can go here to see that cute pattern.

Well, I got out my knitting needles and started knitting!

I had some wool yarn to make the nest.

and found some yarn to make the chick, (mine kind of looks like a duck because I made the beak a little too big.) but I still thought it was cute. This got me thinking that it would make a darling chick hat so I started working on the hat.

I didn't have a cute little head to try out his hat, but I liked how it turned out.

Oh, Chickie!

I put some eggs in the nest for the little chick to rest on. (Maybe she is waiting for her brother or sister to hatch :)

I knitted a little bow for this little chick, I thought she would be cute as a girl!

I think I will have to  make some more!

Still sitting there waiting for the hatch! Go check out Cara's cute pattern and you can have some cute little chick's as well!
I meant to post this on my craft blog but it got here instead so if you check out my easy peasy grandma site and see it again that is why!
