I had to send a scrapbook page

I had to see if I could upload a scrapbook page to this site and it worked. I thought this was such a cute picture of Olivia looking at her Dad and studying his face and listening to what he had to say to her. I had to try some of my new scrapbook techniques and make a page of it. I will try to upload some more because it is fun to see the finished pictures. Hope all of you are well and that you have a very Happy Halloween. Thanks to Mel for sending some of her Halloween pictures. Rainee had some cute pictures of her little spooks. Kace and Tydon had some cute photos at the pumpkin walk. Wow, do I have some cute grandkids or what! So thanks to all of you for sending pictures, they are so fun to look at. Thanks Mac for sending the picture you sent last week, (those women could have easily been dressed up for halloween as well). I wish I could duplicate those hats, they were terrific! So have a great day and remember I love you all!!!

Trick or Treat

Happy Halloween!!
Well, here in Hershey or Pennsylvania they do trick or treating a little differently. Every town does trick or treating on a different day. (To help keep the children safer and to cut down on pedophiles. I really don’t think it makes that big of a difference.) So our Halloween is always the Thursday before Halloween from 6-8. So yesterday, the 25th!, was our trick or treating night. We almost didn’t go though because Jaedon did not want to put the makeup on. Which are just 2 lines under the eyes. So we had quite the struggle with that and that took quite awhile to get him talked into it. But finally we went, and it was quite fun. We went with some other couples from our ward and other med students with little kids. I think this made Jaedon get into it a little more. He started to say, “Next house” and then would take off running. By the end of the night though his bag was getting a little heavy and he made me carry it.
The outlet stores here do a “Halloween Egg Hunt”. So we went to that as well. It was on Tuesday. Jaedon started a little slow with this, and he gets shy around all of the other kids and grown ups. But I think he started to get it after a little bit. We were a little disappointed in the parents though, because they weren’t supposed to be out there with their children. One mom was even picking up all of the candy and putting it into the bag for her kid, and their bag was chuck full! It bothered me though after watching the mom and seeing her with almost 2 huge bags full, because my competitive side was coming out and I wanted Jaedon to get all of it! But luckily I have a great husband that keeps me down to earth! ;) Halloween is BIG out here. It is celebrated all month long and they even have Halloween parades! They don’t have a parade for 4th of July.
And of course I have to just throw in the pictures of Olivia, just being cute! Love you all!!

The year that was.

These pictures are just to show that it is possible to get a nice buck. Its interesting that the yellow quakie leaf is showing where a good hunter would have shot this buck. But since it was running straight away from us. We shot it through the horn (that would be Mac) and shot off it's nards (that would be Nate) and then shot it in the back of the neck (that was Nate too). Good thing Nate finished it off as it was getting so ticked off that we shot off his manhood that he was about to wheel around and charge and gore us. He has pretty whimpy forks, but was one of the largest bodied deer I have ever seen. Except for Uncle Ferrin's, that one is the biggest I have ever seen. Nate and I saw some real nice ones this season, but couldn't seem to put a bullet in the right place. Amazingly I didn't even get to shoot one in the buttocks either. That is a bad year when that happens.

HAHA

I mean fill. Sorry I am really tired.

What?!

So is everyone else confused just as much as I am?! First of all I think Mac is getting his languages mixed up, which is a good sign. But Rachel what is Mac talking about Not (Nate's) hands. Could you feel us all in please!

hey!!!! it work look at me on blogger. well i thought i would add to this but this is me and some other elders with some philipino beauties.

FHE!

Hi everyone,
Well we are getting into the Halloween spirit around our house. (Halloween is my favorite Holiday next to Christmas.) For Family Home Evening we carved some pumpkins. We thought Jaedon would love it! But he didn’t. We tried to get him to grab the pumpkin seeds out and before he would even touch anything, he would say no and shake his head. So pretty much Jon and I did all the work. But it was still fun to be together as a family. Jon carved the witch, and I did the spider. We had a kit and it is so easy to carve a pumpkin with these new fun kits.

I had to throw this one in. We bought this dress when we found out we were having a girl.

Craziness

Well, this weekend like most was crazy. Doug went to Carson City with the scouts Saturday morning he got back at about noon. Just in time for Carson's soccer game. He had two one at noon and the other at 3:00. Since this was their last game they had a bbq in between the two games. Bryce was sick so Doug just went to the first game with Layne and the bbq. He then came home and watched the boys so I could go to his last game. Then when I got home we had to hurry and get the boys dressed for the ward Halloween party. They had a great time playing all of the games. Evan won the cutest costume for the 0-3 years olds. And my white chilli won Most Unique.
Then Sunday is crazy. I had to be at the church at 8:15 because I was the pianist for the choir. After the performance I found out they had asked me since all of the other pianists in the ward had declined to play it. It was a difficult song. I thought I knew it all right, but the piano and the choir was not together. So it didn't turn ou, but what can you say when they ask you to play the week before they perform. Evan was crazy during sacrament and during Nursery. He melted down during Nursery and just screamed for almost 2 hours. I was trying to help the primary practice for the program so it was not fun. So I found Doug. So Doug couldn't get Evan calm so they sat in Doug's car so Evan could scream and not bother people. Then after church Doug went home teaching he came home and I left to go visiting teaching. I came home and then went to choir practice. I came home and Doug had cleaned up the kitchen and made dinner then he left for a fireside.
We are hoping that this week is not so hectic as our weekend. Here are some pictures of them in their Halloween costumes, Carson's last game, and Layne being silly.

our weekend

This past week we went to the pumpkin walk in North Logan. We went with Kace's friend Sammy and his brother Thomas. They had a lot of fun, but it was FREEZING.

I went hunting with Nate on Friday (thanks to Caitlin babysitting. I keep telling Nate he owes her BIG TIME!) Anyway, we woke up and it was raining, so of course in the mountains it was snowing. We got pretty cold, but had a good time together. No deer though, so Nate was disappointed on his last HOORAH for hunting.

We are excited to go to Reno on Friday to see Rainee, Doug and the boys.

The senior games in St. George

Dad and I went to St. George this week and he played in the Huntsman Senior world games in basketball. He left on Monday and I went down on Wednesday with Steve Peterson and his wife Polly. I didn't want to drive down by myself so that was nice of them to take me down. They played teams from Oregon, Montana, Canada, and Utah. They Played for the gold on Friday and they played well and were ahead the whole game and lost it at the end by 4 points so they got the silver. They played a Montana team that had not been beat so that was pretty good I think. Dad was certainly feeling the effects of playing a game everyday for the week. They played 4 ten minute quarters so the games were full games and these old guys aren't used to that. I don't think I have ever seen so many tall old guys in my life, some of the teams even had 7 footers! Dad was one of the big men on the team so he had to defend some pretty big guys. I had fun walking around the main streets of St. George. Dad spent most of his time at the library because he had to finish a class for work and it had to be done by friday. We drove home after the game on Friday and were home by 10pm. It was a fun week!!

Hersheypark in the Dark!

So, we've had a pretty exciting weekend. It all started off with a good old fashioned church cleaning. We were the only family to volunteer to clean the church this week, so it took us a little longer than expected. Jaedon was a pretty good helper for about 15 minutes, and then he spent the rest of the time in the nursery playing with toys. We treated ourselves to a wonderful lunch at McDonalds as a reward for our hard work.

We then went to Old Navy and got Olivia a costume for Halloween. We didn't have much to choose from, so we went with the pumpkin. She was pretty cute.

We then got Jaedon dressed up and headed off to Hersheypark.

It was fun as always at the park. We went on a lot of rides, we trick or treated at Treatville, and played some games. The first game we played we won big! I saw this game over by the frogger, one of Jaedon's favorite rides. I decided to walk over and see how it was played. They stacked four wooden blocks on a platform and you were given two softballs. If you knocked all the blocks off the platform with the first throw, you won a huge stuffed dog. If it took you two throws, you won a little stuffed dog. I watched as people threw $10 and $20 worth of softballs trying to win the big prize, none of which were even close. The game only cost a dollar, so thought it would be fun to give it a shot. I hadn't pitched since I was a little leaguer and walked 7 batters, beaned 2 batters, and gave up a grand slam bunt all in just 1/3 innings of work. Needless to say, I wasn't allowed back on the mound after that incidence. So, naturally, I didn't have high expectations for actually winning this game. Jaedon and I stepped up to the booth and we gave it a shot. Sure enough, on the first toss I knocked off all of the blocks! I felt sorry for the poor saps next to me that had spent a lot of money without having won a thing. They all asked me how I did it and where I aimed. I told them it was just plain luck. It was still quite the adrenaline rush.

And that about wraps up our weekend. Hope you all had a good one as well!

Can't figure it out

You would think with the birth of my fourth child that I have everything figured out with kids. Well I don't. I am still trying to figure out the best time to leave the house without interrupting anyone's naps. Yesterday we left after Bryce finished his morning nap and then Evan fell asleep in the car. So Evan slept for 30 minutes in the car and didn't nap the rest of the day. So he was cranky and I was going to put him to bed early. Well he developed an ear infection and I didn't notice until dinnertime. So we took him to the doctor and the pharmacy. So he was up later and was a nightmare because he wouldn,t take his medications but he didn't feel well.

ok i just wanted to see if this works and if i can send letters and pictures so here it goes.

Hammerin' Hank!

It sure has been good hearing from you all. Mel's B-day was a success, I guess. Unfortunately for her, I'm not big on B-days and I'm a horrible party planner. I can barely manage getting presents. For the first time in my life, I bought her photoshop about 1 month in advance. Then Adobe decided to come out with a new version during that time. Just my luck! It's one of those darned if you do, darned if you don't kind of things.

I thought I would post a movie of Jaedon playing baseball. He's dressing up as Derek Jeter this Halloween, so I decided he needed to swing like a champ. With just a couple days of practice, I think he's ready for the T-ball league!

Greatest day of the year!! (according to me)

So yesterday was my birthday and I turned 27!! I can't believe I am 27, I am getting old!! But it was a pretty good day. In the morning Jon made breakfast and then of course had to leave for school. But when he was done with classes he came home, (about lunch time), and we opened some presents. I got a shirt, Adobe Photoshop 5 (YEAH!!), and Jaedon gave me a big tin bucket of chocolate, or as Jaedon says it, cockers!! Then Jon had to leave again and do stuff for school, but when he got home he made the best dinner ever!! For appetizers we had boneless honey BBQ chicken wings, with a homemade honey mustard sauce. It was good! For a drink I mentioned a lime ricky. Well, in our searching for a recipe, I found out that this is an alcoholic beverage. I always thought that it was just an Artic Circle drink. Poor little innocent Utah girl that I am!! But we got the next best thing with lime in it. Coke! (with lime). Then for dinner my chef made salmon, rice and asparagus. It was very delicious! Then the best part was dessert. Peanut butter brownies with a cream cheese frosting, and with ice cream. It was to die for!!! But it was a very good day. Thank you to all who sent cards. I loved them, and wish you all could have been here to join in the fun!

Try this again

I am trying this again! I deleted my old google account and started all over, but that still didn't work (I wasn't able to upload the pictures). I then thought that I should try going through explorer as my browser instead of Mozilla (which we usually use) and it worked!! YEAH So I will post some more pics in a little bit.
This is Kace on his first day of Preschool. He was very excited and enjoys this preschool very much. Last year it was more of a glorified play time with some crafts and projects. This year they actually learn something (it seems like to me anyway) and it is much more productive. He has fun and has made lots of friends. He especially likes that he is the only five year old in his class.

Mel sorry my typing skills are not very good and I was trying to see where I should type the explanation of the pictures and I chose that one sorry I am a novice!

Photo's from Dad's camera

Dad wanted me to downlaod some of his pictures from his camera and as you will see some of these photo's are old. Mac, Isaac, and Nate are in the first ones and the last pictures are from yesterday when they shot the turkey and we ate it for dinner today. It was good it tasted like turkey!

Silly Mom

Mom do you realize that you put October "24th". It is the "14th". And you typed, well it seemed like you typed your "post" or message in the "label box" instead of in the place to type your message. Which is the BIG white box just up above the "label" box. You are silly mom, but I still love you!! And am glad I am apart of this family!

Melvin and friends

I have been meaning to post these pictures for awhile now so you could see that the best fishing in Utah is in Wyoming. We had alot of fun and caught some nice lunkers.

Deer in the canyon

This morning when I was looking out the window there were all of these deer coming over the cattle guard. I went out on the porch and took pictures and they just looked at me like I was a strange person. Maggie and Lily even walked up the steps and the deer just looked at them. I don't think the dogs even knew they were there. So I am sending a picture of the deer.

Little Livy

So here are some pictures of Olivia in this very cute dress. We were able to get her smiling again, but this time it was for sure gas, because shortly after she filled her pants and it leaked out the FRONT!! Never seen that done before, but we have never had a girl before either and things have been differently compared to Jaedon.

BUBBLE BATH!!!

So I know that I already sent this video in an email, but it just cracks me up when Jaedon gets excited about things. The face he makes and then the way he says things. Unfortunately he doesn't really make the face in this video though, but is still very cute and funny how he says it. And he was so interested in the bubbles that he didn't really say it like he does either, but you can kind of tell how he does or would say it. And I wish you all could be here to watch him, watch himself. That is another funny site to behold as well!
Like Jon said in his post, Jaedon got his haircut and looks SO much better! I really like the nice clean haircuts, no shaggy do's in this house. But it was so nice to cut his hair and not have to fight him. The mirror trick seemed to work!

Count Me In!

I've just been blogging for a couple of days now, and I really enjoy it even though it is not my thing, Mel. Although, anything requiring some capacity of tech saviness is enough to get my fire of desire burning! This weekend has been a great one by my standards. No studying!!! I took a horrible pulmonology test on Friday. Anybody know what the second most common reason for failure of pharmaceutical intervention in treating asthma is? I didn't even know what the most common reason was, let alone the second most common. You would think that in med school they would stop testing trivial material and get into the nitty gritty of biochemical pathways, pathophysiology, and treatment for common and complex disease processes. Anyway, I start my renal block on Monday, so I have been enjoying my weekend off. Jaedon and I got matching haircuts. He did a great job of sitting still, although we had to bribe him with a treat and bubble bath. We let him hold Mel's mirror and that distracted him for the most part. We also went to Chocolate World today to get Mel a birthday present. Jaedon picked it out all by himself and I thought his choice was an excellent one. I just hope Mel shares with us! And Mel, I drifted in and out of Sister Beck's talk, but from what I remember I kind of felt the same way. I didn't feel inadequate, but I did feel like I needed to try harder to be a better parent. Funny how our thought processes are similar, but at far different ends of the spectrum if you know what I'm saying. And if you don't know what I'm saying, I'll just explain it to you tonight, ha ha. And I know I'm going to take a lot of heat for this, but Hillary and Barak were at the top of my presidential list. I guess I'm just a liberal at heart.

Boys, get with it!

So all of the men are lacking, except for my husband. I know you are probably not very excited or "in to it", but it would be funner if you contributed stuff. Caitlin and Rachel you have signed on to be contributers but have not contributed. Rach, I know you have an excuse, I did send it again by the way. I wonder if maybe you need to delete your blog at first too. Well, just see how it goes this second time. So here is a question for all of you, well I guess for mainly the women, what did you think about Sister Beck's talk. I only heard bits and pieces, but from what I heard I felt inadequate or lacking as a mother, and that I need to do more. And here is a question for all, who were your top politician picks from, I think it was Rachel's email. Mine was Mitt. Love you all!!

My Trip to PA

Mel, Jaedon, Jon and Olivia on the docks at Inner Harbor. This next picture is of us before we went to church.

Jaedon and I in Inner Harbor

This is when Mel and Jon came to [ick me up from the airport, We had to wait until 9:30 to pick up my luggage so we went to Inner Harbor in Baltimore and had dinner and looked at the sites. It was so good to see the Bassett family in person!

Evan was tired

Well all of my boys have been sick this week to some extent. Evan just was too tired to stay awake anymore.
Bryce is growing but is still happy. He is now 17 lbs at just 3 months. So needless to say he is hungry all the time. I am trying to feed him cereal, but he is still really young and has the shove everything out with your toungue reflex still. We are working on it though since he has gone from sleeping through the night to wanting to eat every 3 hours at night.
Doug is in Pahrump(a little town outside of Las Vegas) today and then he will be in Elko on Monday. His work did promise exciting business travel.
